3 Revenue Streams for Fashion Stylists

Last time I wrote about the changes I had to make in my business to generate more income as a fashion stylist [You can read all about it here].

I also shared with you My Perfect Styling Business Formula, which is the tool I use to make sure I achieve my business goals every month [You can check it out here].

Today I want to share 3 specific ideas to add more revenue streams to your styling business and increase your income as a stylist.

3 Revenue Streams for Fashion Stylists

Why add more revenue streams instead of getting more clients you may ask?

Well, it all depends on your goals really. You may think you want more clients, but make sure you have the time to serve them.

Some stylists are working endlessly to be able to generate the income they want. In some cases, it may be that we are not charging enough for our services. In other cases, this may not even be a possibility because we may not have the capacity to help more clients. If you are charging your clients fairly and you have no more capacity for new clients, keep reading!

Sometimes our job aspirations as a stylist are limited by our location. Maybe we live in a small town where we have no access to certain jobs that are only available in big cities like London, Paris, New York, LA, etc. In this situation, are you willing to relocate or perhaps travel constantly to develop relationships in those locations to have access to those jobs? If you can and/or want, that’s great. If you can’t though, you still have options.

The revenue streams I’m about to share can be a great complement to your styling business. They are aligned with your career and may even bring your more job opportunities within your industry.

There are jobs that you can do from wherever thanks to the Internet, which in turn will get you closer to those job opportunities you want regardless of your location.

Two of these jobs are also considered passive income [Passive income is when earnings are derived from an enterprise in which a person is not actively involved]. This means you don’t have to exchange hours for money. These two jobs can generate income for you without you being there physically or performing a task at that specific moment [Let me know if you want to learn more about this topic in the comment section below!].

Oh well without further ado, let’s share these 3 ideas, shall we?

Online Styling

Thanks to technology, businesses are offering online styling services more and more. If you are a personal stylist you can offer this on your website and find your own clients. You can also ask your regular clients for referrals of friends and family who might be interested in your services and live in other states. You may also want to join bigger corporations who are offering these services to their customers – like Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom – or fashion businesses such as Rue La La, Snap + Style, Stitch Fix, Dresspass , and FabFitFun.

Online Products

Are there any products that you can offer to your audience that could improve their lives and help them solve any problems? Classes, PDFs, worksheets, ebooks, workshops? There are so many things you can do online for your customers. If people keep asking you to teach a class, why don’t you set up a camera, film some videos, and offer it to them? [We have an online course where we teach fashion entrepreneurs how to turn their expertise into digital products. You can learn more about it here!].

Branded Merchandise

Do you have a highly engaging following? Fans who love what you do and want to learn more about you and your business, be a part of your world? Would they be interested in buying t-shirts, mugs, tote bags? There are many companies out there that allow you to design these products in minutes and offer you everything you need from professional-looking images to a portal to sell your products, payment processing, delivery, customer service, and more. Some of these websites include Printful, GearBubble, and UberPrints [We have our own! You can use code FECLOVE10 to enjoy 10% off on any of our t-shirts and tote bags if you want here!].
