10 Social Media Post Ideas for Fashion Biz Owners

Deciding what to post on social media can feel overwhelming at times. Especially, if we have a million things to do. That’s why I always recommend having a set of categories or content pillars ready to go to make the whole process easier!

Now if you haven’t worked on this yet, don’t panic. I have 10 post ideas that you can use as categories or content pillars in your own fashion business.

Once you identify the ones that work for you, it will be so much easier to create content.

Start experimenting and get unstuck. When you find out which ones work best – and maybe you even come up with some great categories on your own – then get super productive by batching your content and saving it, so you always have something to post! (Batching is when you create tons of content at once).

Okay, so are you ready? Here we go!

10 Social Media Post Ideas (1)

If you are a fashionpreneur, you can post the following type of content:

#1 Behind the Scenes:

Your customers (and potential customers) love to get a sneak peek of your creative process. Show them what you do before creating a product or coming up with a service. Don’t just post a piece of fabric and tell us you are working on your next gown. Tell us more! Where did you get it? What made you think of those colors or textures? Who is this piece for?

#2 Sale or Promotion:

Do you have a promotion coming up? Create anticipation about it. Ask your followers to guess what the next promotion is all about. Prompt them to join your list to be the first ones to receive the email with the special announcement. Offer a bigger discount to the people who Like + Share your sale with others!

Social Media Tip 1

#3 Tell us More About the Lifestyle:

There is a certain mystique about working in fashion, correct? We all know it’s more hard work than elegant extravaganzas, but your followers still want to know more about you and your day. Where you go, what you do, who you meet. Stop for a second and think about your favorite fashion designer… umm I love Carolina Herrera, for example, what if Carolina would show me what she does in her life as a designer for a few days on Instagram? Wouldn’t that be fabulous? You get the picture!

#4 Fashion Shows:

We all love fashion shows, so tell us all about them! From ideas to implementation, behind the scenes, people participating, hair and makeup looks, clothing pieces, accessories and more! People love photo shoots too. Share about those too!

#5 Press:

Tell your audience if you have been highlighted in a TV or radio segment, what about a magazine or newspaper, blogs, podcasts, community awards, local organizations and more. Press is credibility! (I’ve represented many brands throughout my career and done many interviews on radio, tv, magazines, events, and more. I’ve also coached many fashionpreneurs, so they do an amazing job on interviews. #6 Inspirational Quotes:

Share quotes that really speak to you and that talk about what you are working on as a fashion business owner. It can be about design, entrepreneurship, life… the possibilities are endless! The key here is to share quotes that you REALLY connect with and comment about them. Your personal insights are invaluable. You don’t have to be entertaining, dramatic, long, or whatever else you are thinking, just be honest, and be you.

#7 Events:

If you are attending a special event, please share with your audience. Even if the event is not directly related to fashion, it may give a chance to your followers to get to know you better. Maybe you love animals and are part of a group that rescues them. If you are attending a gala, for example, to support this cause that is dear to your heart, why not share it? It’s another way to connect with your customers and fans in a deeper way.

#8 Tips:

If you have something useful to share, share it. Everyone appreciates good tips that will make life and work easier, so if you have any helpful tips that will upgrade or improve someone’s life share!

Social Media Tip 2

#9 Support Others:

If a colleague or friend is doing something great, tell us about it. We would love to know. Especially if they are in the same field as you. If I like you and you like them, I will probably like them too. It’s an act of kindness and you are helping people grow. Perhaps someone will do the same for you too!

Social Media Tip 3

#10 Products & Services:

Your audience wants to know about your products and services. If they didn’t want to, they wouldn’t have followed you in the first place. Right? Sometimes we feel a little self-conscious about sharing, but we have to tell our audience about our business. If we don’t do it, who will? Don’t bombard followers with merchandise, but don’t neglect your business either.

How do we know how much to share? Marketers will give you numbers and percentages. I say, do what feels right. If you think sharing valuable content and your products should be 50/50, then awesome. If you feel like you need to share more about your products and do 70% products and 30% other content, do that. If you feel it should be less, do less. Do what feels right because that shows in your social media accounts!
