Knowledge and research is my first tip. The more you know about reselling fashion the more you increase your chances of being successful. Narrow down demographics, who are you targeting? Make sure you know your audience and learn what they want. Learn fashion trends and styles pay attention to what those around you are wearing. A quick google research or picking up fashion magazines will help with this.
QUALITY
Quality, is extremely important to any business and reselling it’s no exception. Making sure your inventory is high quality and in great condition. Many people are skeptical about purchasing pre-owned clothing and you want your customer to have a great experience. This means double-checking for any flaws or damage, making sure your items are clean and the best quality possible.
PICTURES
Pictures, make a huge difference and can determine if a buyer will purchase your item. You don’t need a fancy camera or an expensive light kit. You can take great pictures on any smartphone or tablet. I personally use my smartphone. The key to a great picture is lighting it can make all the difference in the world. Natural light will be your best friend. Photograph near a window at peak times to capture the best light.
CONSISTENCY
Consistency, is a contributing factor to becoming a successful reseller. You must actively list new items. The more items you have listed the more likely you are to attract and drive customers to your store. Also, being consistent with your customers meaning listening to them, engaging with them and providing the best possible customer service always.
COMMUNITY
Community, getting to know and getting involved with the reseller community is extremely beneficial. There’s a huge population from all over the country that are on various social media platforms who are willing to share their tips and tricks to help you on your reselling journey. In addition to gaining knowledge from other resellers, you are also bringing exposure to your closet.
BONUS TIP!
Don’t be scared, dive into reselling. Yes, you’ll make mistakes (all top sellers do) but that’s how you’ll learn.
